Ski Trip
I was skiing at Giants Ridge last weekend, staying mostly on The Chute. (double black; harder than black diamonds) The top two thirds or so is about as steep as a black, is full of trees, has icy spots, and it really uneven so lots of turns are required. The last part is smooth but skinny and about 80 degrees (90 degrees is straight down). It's a lot of fun. One of my runs on it there was a girl, maybe 12, at the top of the steep part, nervous to go down. Her dad (assuming he was her dad) was about 8-10 feet away from her waiting for her to be ready. Plenty of room to go between them. When I was almost up to them, the girl, not seeing me, got up and started skiing across the hill towards her dad. When she saw me she started screaming, and I had seen her right away. I was able to avoid hitting her, but our skies still hit. She just fell over as anyone would on a green or blue, didn't slide down or anything, but our ski tips hitting combined with me turning sharp and increasing speed in attempt to avoid her made me literally fly about 4 yards (12 feet) down the steepest (almost straight down) part. It was actually pretty funny. All that happened was I got a little bit of snow on my pants and my jacket and a big scratch on my cheek from the icy snow I landed on. The run isn't that hard for me, and I kept going on it, (although most people won't attempt it and most who do end up crawling down, sliding down, or falling, lol), I just need to learn to keep my distance from little kids over their heads on steep stuff. :P Anyway, it didn't at all stop me from going on steep stuff, just taught me to stay away from little kids. lol.

10/20/08 Update
Haven't posted in a long time. I've been really busy lately. Tomorrow is my last day of working at Ceder Hill, then I will finally have some free time again. I am really excited to ski, going soon to Trollhaugen, hopefully the weekend of November 7th. I am also joining the Powder Ridge racing team this winter. Already got my racing suit and new skies. And although I have been really busy, it's worth it, now I have my own Xbox 360 and HDTV! :) Besides working, I have taken a recent interest in baking, thanks partially to talking to Tori, a vegan relative of mine who loves baking. So far I just bake muffins, I am going to try some more things. Now that work is finally (almost) over, I will have more than 2 hours a day and will finally be able to make some cinnamon rolls. (they take about 3 hours if I remember correctly.) Well, that's it for now.

I got the job!
On Monday I went to Cedar Hills Orchard and I got the job! :) It starts on September 8 and two friends of mine (Mark and Megan) are also doing it. I actually found out about the orchard from Mark. Well, technically it starts the 4th, with training.

Good news
Some good news. I was able to not only help judge the LEGO creations, I judged them myself! Good thing I was there because there are lots of kits entered and the judges don't know what ones are kits (and kits are against the rules). Also, the apple orchard is still accepting interviews so I am being interviewed on monday. I hope I can get in, I calculated that I will get around $1,000 or maybe even a bit more. But then there's tax... >.>

First Blog
This is my first (and only) blog. I will try to keep it updated regularly. I will be posting about my hobbies (LEGO collecting and building, downhill skiing, playing Halo, among other things) and also about veganism and animal rights. Not much to post right now, other than that I am having a busy summer. Just finished Driver's Ed and have my permit. Have only been driving a few times, twice so far, but my Dad is willing to take me pretty much whenever I want to go. I just have too much going on to make time for it. I am also taking Pre-Calculus, a 12th grade-level math class this summer, so I will be able to start college level math in 10th grade. Nice to get ahead in the summer. :) Earlier this summer I helped my Dad re-do the back deck, cause the wood was getting really old and rotten. Now I am staining our main deck. Got the majority of it done today, but still have to do all the railings, siding on the gazebo, etc. And wow, school is coming up fast! Only--what is it?--four weeks left? Summer is really going by quick. And the county fair is coming up, and I volunteer at the animal shelter a lot during the fair because the shelter needs all the help it can get--we are really busy during the fair, as we are located on the fairgrounds! Probably too late for this year, but I am also going to look into being a judge at the fair to judge LEGO creations. In my oppinion, the judges don't always have the best taste... they need someone who really appreciates LEGO! (Yes, that's me!) And fortunately for me, I know someone who is on the fair board! I am also looking for a job. Am I crazy, already having so much going on? I don't think so, I really need money! I don't want to work at a fast food restaurant where I have to be around meat all day long, but I hear that a nearby apple orchard is hiring--I am going to look into it. Well, downhill skiing is only about 3 months away, really looking forward to that! I still have to get some new skies this summer though. Good thing my Dad is willing to buy them for me, because I am broke! As for animal rights, I have been planning for some time to do a "Kentucky Fried Cruelty" campaign/protest in Hutchinson, possibly with some friends/family if they'd be willing, but I haven't gotten around to it yet. I really should. Well, that's it for now. I guess "Not too much to post right now" was a little inaccurate, but who cares? lol. Not sure when I will get around to posting again, probably sometime in the next week or so though. I know this post covered a lot, but it's my first post, and I had a lot to say!
